Weighing in at only 8.5 ounces and measuring 7.5 inches tall by 4.8 inches wide and just 1/3 of an inch thin, the Kindle Keyboard is lighter than a paperback and thinner than a magazine. (Click on photo for larger view or check out the link above for many more product images.)
This e-reader has a 6 inch E-Ink screen which delivers non-glare, high-contrast, clear, crisp text and images that you can read without eye strain even in bright sunlight. It offers eight adjustable font sizes in three font style choices to suit your reading preferences, plus the ability to zoom in on images to the full screen size.
With the full QWERTY keyboard you can add annotations to text, just like you might write in the margins of a book. And because it is digital, you can edit, delete, and export your notes. You can highlight and clip key passages and bookmark pages for future use. You can also share meaningful passages with friends and family with the keyboard and built-in Twitter and Facebook integration.
This is a third generation Kindle Keyboard which is NOT 3G, but does have built in Wi-Fi, so you can connect to Wi-Fi hotspots at home or on the road (including the free Wi-Fi access offered to Kindle users at AT&T hotspots across the U.S.) With this fast, free wireless delivery method, you can find and start reading books in less than 60 seconds. No computer required.
The Kindle Keyboard has 4GB of internal memory (approximately 3GB available for user content), so it can hold up to 3,500 e-books! The device will also open documents (pdf files), run games, and play audiobooks, music and podcasts (mp3 files).
This particular Kindle model includes the Voice Guide text-to-speech feature, which could be useful for low-vision users. In addition to reading books (if they are listed as having text-to-speech enabled on the book's product page), it can read aloud menu options, content listings and item descriptions.
Based on a half hour of daily reading time the Kindle Keyboard's battery can last for up to 2 months between charges.

Although the Kindle Keyboard being offered up for auction here is used, it is in fine working order and cosmetically free of blemishes (scratches, dings, etc.). It was purchased in October 2010 and is still under extended warranty through October 2012. All of the accessories (including the U.S. power adapter) will be included with the Kindle, as well as a $25 Amazon.com gift card to fill it with new books from the millions of titles the site has to offer.
The Kindle will be reset to factory defaults before being packaged and shipped with great care, in a protective case, but please note it may take an extra week or two for the donor to get the device and gift card sent out to the winner.
