Kindle Fire 2

Amazon Kindle Fire 2

Amazon Kindle Fire Price to drop and make way for the new Kindle Fire 2?
We talked about the Kindle Fire 2 news and latest leaks quite a bit on the blog yet the release date remains elusive. Just when I thought the news about the Christmas Release date of the Kindle Fire 2 was reliable, Amazon leaked out some new rumors. The news from the upstream supply chain are that the existing 7-inch Kindle Fire will drop to $149 (American dollars) in Q3 this year in order for the new Kindle Fire 2 to take its place. Well, that is perhaps a place where a lot of blogs have made the mistake, as nobody mentioned the Kindle Fire 2 specifically. It could just as well be something like the Kindle Ice or any of the other rumored 7-inch kindles.

In any case, the goal is to expand its market share, right? DigiTimes mentioned certain 'covert' sources who have inside information that Amazon has a high chance of using a similar product strategy to Apple. The idea is to get the community hype about the latest product, while dropping prices of the older ones for those who can't afford to get the latest ones. That's not a bad idea, and certainly a lot of brands are using. It is no wonder we have the so called Apple fan-boys and the 'well educated' Samsung (Galaxy S3) fan-boys. Not that we are promoting any of the two brands or insulting their fans of course, this is just an Internet meme!

Either way, the source says to expect the following moves by Amazon:

Release a brand new device with a screen resolution of 1280 by 800 and a price of US$199, in the third quarter. The targeted group is the higher-end segment and advanced users.
Release a 7-inch model similar to the Kindle Fire with a screen resolution of 1024 by 600 and a price of $149. The branded name should be held to increase the buyer's confidence in the product. The targeted groups here is the entry-level segment.
Hold special promotions, do a good advertising campaign.
Get a lot of people to spend money for the purchases in the store!
???
Profit!

Okay, so these weren't the exact words the source used, but steps one and two are what they have been quotes saying. Steps 3, 4, 5 and 6 are just a poor attempt at humor and using the famous Internet meme, surely somebody found it amusing...right?
Any Kindle Fire 2 News?
I hate it when I have to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately there is nothing new to report on the Kindle Fire 2. Here is a recap of what we know:

There will be several models of the new Fire 2, and one may perhaps be a 9 or 10 inch, full HD model with a price tag of around $199-$249.
It is possible that the new device may be the Kindle Inferno or perhaps the Kindle Ice and it may debut this Christma.
We now some of the Kindle Fire 2 specs.
We have the first leaked images that show that the new model might have a camera!
